Editor,

On Feb. 19, the Salish Kootenai College Career Center held its annual career fair. What a success it was. Over 400 job seekers registered and were connected with employers who had job openings, internships, training programs and more.

We want to say thank you to all the registered participants and all the employers for attending this celebrated event.

We had superb attendance from local, state and government agencies, corporations, educational institutions, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal employers and many more.

Prior to the career fair, the National Security Agency made themselves available on campus for mock interviews and resume assistance, and the Lake County Job Service provided three workshops that discussed what employers are looking for, interview techniques, and resume assistance as well.

We had many employment opportunities in the fields of health care, land management, military, and business to name a few.

Our employers and job seekers were pleased with the great turn out and were proud to share the number of years they had been in attendance.

If you were unable to attend the career fair or would like more information, please stop by the Career Center on the SKC campus. A list of employer names will be posted on the bulletin.

Remember there are always jobs out there, but when you have a good lead and contact, your road to success is much easier.

This was the first career fair for the new career center director, and she had one word to describe it: magnificent.

Thank you to Terri Cordier for her assistance with the planning and coordination. Her contribution helped to bring SKC and the community a great opportunity. Thank-you to all the employers, volunteers, students and all others who contributed to the success of the career fair.

Thank you again for your continued loyalty and support. We couldn’t do it without you all.We are already looking forward to next year’s event and hope to see you there.
