Editor,

Soup’s On at the Wander Inn would like to thank the community for contributing to our free food program during the Feinstein Challenge. From March 1–April 31, the Alan Shaw Feinstein Foundation matched your donations, and added one dollar per pound for any gift of food that we received.

With your help we raised $6,600. The money will be used to make improvements in the kitchen.

Soups On serves a free meal from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The meals are prepared and served by a wonderful group of volunteers we refer to as “Friends of the Table.” The menu is a choice of two kinds of soup with bread and dessert. Please stop in and meet these grand citizens who make this program possible. Relish the unique qualities of their fine cooking, and meet friends. Our doors are open to everyone.

If you would like to have a fun and exciting volunteer experience, please consider applying your skills to the Soup’s On. We are in need of people willing to do daily meal preparation, food service and cleanup. This is a great opportunity for students to utilize their vacation time, preparing for college. Many scholarships consider community services when they determine their rewards.

Please remember that Family Table, a free community dinner, is served every fourth Friday of the month at the Wander Inn from 5-7 p.m. On the first Friday, the meal is hosted at the Catholic Church. Look to the Presbyterian Church to have a meal on the second Friday of the month, and on the third Friday, the United Methodist Church offers a fine spread. Enjoy dining out four Fridays a month by attending these free community dinners.

A special thank you to the people in Polson, Pablo and Ronan who have stepped up to participate in this project. Most of you not only contribute your time and money to Soup’s On, but volunteer for other critical projects in the valley. It’s this kind of humanitarianism that builds our regard for each other and strengthens our community.
