After recent malicious and non-factual posting in the media by a group identifying themselves only as “Concerned Citizens of Lake County,” I would like to inform the residents of Lake County that every issue that has been mentioned has been investigated either by an outside agency or through an internal investigation. In each instance, legal counsel has been sought and their advice has been followed.
The sheriff is the one that makes the final decision on any issue that affects the Sheriff’s Office. The position of undersheriff is an appointed position by the sheriff and serves at the pleasure of the sheriff.
Under Montana state law, the undersheriff has the same duties as a deputy sheriff. In the absence of the sheriff, the undersheriff shall assume the duties of the sheriff until a newly elected sheriff takes office.
I fully endorse Jay Doyle for Lake County Sheriff.
