Editor,

During the last Legislative session, my husband Dan Salomon, Republican Representative for House District #12 (now #93), walked across the aisle to shake hands and work with people of differing beliefs. It is a waste of time and money if our elected officials are unwilling to collaborate and work towards mutual solutions. This does not mean compromising your own principles, but helping to create an environment that is conducive to getting things accomplished.

Often times in a crowd it is the people who are quiet about their viewpoints and opinions that have the most strength and show the most common sense. Grandstanders tend to write and perform publicly for their own benefit and appear to like the sound of their own voices.

We have been hearing from the same small group of people in the local papers for some time now. We see the same names and read the same rhetorical comments week after week. Please remember that a “Letter to the Editor” is an unedited “opinion” piece that does not need to contain or be based on fact in order to be printed.

As he runs for re-election in the upcoming legislative primary, I expect there will be a lot of misinformation and defamation of character directed towards my husband. He has spent countless hours on the road and here at home talking, and most of all listening, to his constituents. Honesty and integrity are to be valued. If you have any questions about Dan Salomon’s voting record or want to know what his stance on a particular issue is, please contact him directly at (406) 675-0150. If he isn’t out farming, there might even be a cup of coffee available.
