Library observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day
POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library will be closed on Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

Dennison to speak on Montana politics
POLSON — Humanities Montana Conversation: “Montana’s Changing Political Landscape,” with Mike Dennison, will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Lake County Public Library. Mike Dennison, chief political reporter for the Montana Television Network, has spent most of the past three decades reporting on politics and public policy in Montana, for newspapers, television and the wire services. This year he released a new book, “Inside Montana Politics: A Reporter’s View from the Trenches.” He will talk about the trends that have shaped the political landscape in Montana.

Barron to address Lake County Pachyderms
POLSON — The Lake County Pachyderms invite the community to hear Bill Barron, Lake County commissioner, share his thoughts about the Montana Water Rights Protection Act. He will discuss the long-term implications for Lake County from the perspective of his office: in terms of the budget from loss of property taxes, public right of ways, as well as ceding CSKT the National Bison range. The meeting will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Polson Rural Fire Station off Regatta Road. For more information call 406-676-2370.

Kiwanis host ‘Pints for a Purpose’
POLSON — On Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 4:30-8 p.m. at Glacier Brewery, 6 Tenth Ave. E, the Kiwanis Club will host “Pints for a Purpose,” a family-friendly fundraiser to support Special Olympics. Hot dogs, chili, beer and non-alcoholic options will be available. Donations to Special Olympics are appreciated.

New time for Classic Country Jammin’
POLSON — Classic Country Jammin’ will be held on Feb. 2 in the Elks ballroom from 1-4 p.m. (The time change is to allow for winter conditions and early sunset.) This event will continue on the first Sunday of every month. Bring your favorite instrument and join us for a few hours of fun. Everyone is welcome to play, sing, dance or just listen. We will have coffee and snacks for you. You do not have to be an Elk member to utilize the bar. Cover charge is $5 but there is no charge for singers or players. POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library’s popular “Needle Arts Series” is back. Crochet is back. The library is happy to provide four crochet sessions in February as part of our ongoing fiber arts series. Mark your calendars now with these dates: Feb.4, 11, 18 and 25 at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room. Please bring your crochet hook and yarn (cotton recommended). Hooks are also available for $5 in our gift shop. There will also be yarn on hand.

POLSON — Join us for the community dance at the Elks on Main Street on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 7-10 p.m. Music is provided by Ken’s Country Combo playing a variety of classic country and vintage rock and roll. Snacks are provided during the break at 8:30. No Elk membership is required. The cover charge is $5. Come early for a good hamburger as Elk members will be cooking 5-7 p.m. prior to our dance. POLSON — The film “Emanuel,” a documentary, which weaves together the history of race relations in Charleston, South Carolina, in the aftermath of the shooting following a prayer meeting at Mother Emanuel Church, five years ago. The film will be shown at the North Lake County Library in Polson on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. This is a poignant story of justice and faith, love and hate, while examining the healing power of forgiveness. Enjoy warm meal at Journey Be
POLSON — Polson Community Church will be serving lunch on Feb. 13 at Journey Be Christian Church, located at 101 Seventh Ave. W, at the SW corner of First St. W. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. and will consist of two homemade soups; one meat and one without, along with salad, homemade rolls, deserts and coffee. The lunch is provided to help feed those less fortunate and in need of a good, warm, home-cooked meal. All are welcome and please know that religion is not spoken of unless you might ask. It is a place for you to come, enjoy a good meal, be warm and enjoy yourselves. There is no charge for anyone. Locals share highlights of Machu Picchu trip
POLSON — The Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Please join us on Thursday, Feb. 20, when we will have a Machu Picchu trip in review. Three local men, James Manley, Dennis DeVries and Brodie Moll will tell of their recent trip to the sacred site of Machu Picchu in the high Andean peaks of Peru. The speakers will also bring in some personal stories and humor to entertain us.

POLSON —The Polson Chamber February Support Polson Late Afternoon Social Hour sponsor is the Polson Chamber of Commerce. The event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 5-7 p.m. at the Polson Chamber of Commerce office, 402 First St. E number 102. Cost of entry is $2, which directly supports the Polson Chamber of Commerce Fireworks Fund.
