Art auction provides funds for PEACE
POLSON — In honor of October as domestic violence awareness month, Prevention and Education of Abuse and Christian Environments, (PEACE), will hold their first official fundraiser. Please join them for a silent art auction on Oct. 24 from 6-8 p.m. in the community room of the Mission Valley Aquatics Center. Desserts and hors d’oeuvres will be served as bids can be placed on beautiful artwork from local artists. Dinner, auction to benefit cancer fighter
POLSON — A benefit dinner and silent auction will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Polson VFW for Becky Cooper, a longtime waitress at Regatta Pizza who is fighting stage four colon rectal cancer. Because Becky is a huge football fan, people are asked to come wearing Becky’s favorite Pittsburgh Steelers’ colors — yellow and black — or any NFL team jersey or colors.
Organizers are also seeking donation items for the silent auction.
All proceeds will go to Becky’s medical expenses.

Speaker to address Pachyderms about Polson Chamber
POLSON — Rob Turner, president of the Polson Chamber of Commerce, will report on the “State of the Polson Chamber of Commerce” at the Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. The group meets at the Polson Rural Fire Department building on Regatta Road, Polson. The business meeting starts at noon and adjourns at 1 p.m. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. Anyone interested in hearing about Polson’s economic news and economic challenges is cordially invited to attend the meeting.
Yard sale planned at St. Andrew’s
POLSON — St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will have a yard sale on Friday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 110 Sixth Ave. The sale will feature furniture and gently used holiday items. Other used items will be available as well.

POLSON — A Halloween dance will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Elks Club from 7-10 p.m. Costumes are optional but dressing up is fun and a prize for the best costume is planned. Treats for sharing are welcome. The Elks Club has a brand new floor and it’s a thing of beauty.

POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, 2 First Ave. E. Pasty lunch on Election Day
POLSON — On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, the Polson Presbyterian Church, across from Linderman School at 301 4th Ave. E., is holding a pasty lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The lunch includes a homemade pasty with gravy, salad, vegetable, cake and beverage and costs $6 for adults and $3 for children. All of the proceeds go to missions and outreach. Please vote, and then have a wonderful pasty lunch at the Polson Presbyterian Church.

Express concerns to newly elected legislators
POLSON — The public is invited to a post-election panel with the newly elected Lake County delegation to the legislature on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the North County Public Library meeting room. This is an opportunity for citizens to communicate their concerns, prior to the January session of the Montana legislature, to the two newly elected Senators and three representatives from Lake County. Moderator of the panel is County Commissioner Bill Barron. Once senators and representatives are elected, they represent all of us regardless of Party. This meeting is sponsored by the Lake County Republicans.
