‘Thyme for Herbs’ meeting planned
POLSON – The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Monday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library Meeting Room, 2 First Ave. E. The program will focus on “What Herbs and Foods Do We Need?” The discussion will include: what to plant in your garden this spring, and how eating only nutrient-dense foods can improve your health. Board to hold meeting
POLSON — The Polson School Board meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 9, at 5:30 p.m. It will be held at the district office, 111 Fourth Ave. E.

All invited to Kiwanis Burgerfest
POLSON – The Polson Kiwanis Club invites all to its annual Burgerfest on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Polson VFW upstairs hall on Main Street. Your $8 ticket includes a buffalo burger with fixin’s, salad, beans, pie, beverages and a time to socialize. Tickets are available at the door. Proceeds go to Polson Kiwanis community Mission Valley youth projects.

POLSON — A Valentine’s dance is planned at the Elks with Heart to Heart providing the music. Bring your favorite beau or gal and a sweet treat to share.
Library offers free tech classes
POLSON — Free technology classes are being offered at North Lake County Public Library in Polson during the month of February. Space is limited, so please call the library at (406) 883-8225 to register.
On Wednesday, Feb. 11, Simple Photo Editing with PicMonkey will be taught from 3-4 p.m. PicMonkey is a free photo editing website. This class will teach you how to crop, adjust color, and add text and other features to your digital photos. Please bring a flash drive with a picture on it for editing, or have access to a photo via your email.
Youth violence discussed at meeting
POLSON — A Resource Round Table meeting will take place at the Lake County Health Department Conference room at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 11. The presentation topic is, “Youth Violence-A Different World.” Hope you can make it. Lunch will be provided as well as a smile.

Museum shows film about logging
POLSON — Second Thursdays programs are held each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Miracle of America Museum with free and fun family entertainment. On Feb. 12, “Timberjack” will be shown, a 1955 movie. Parts of the movie were filmed in Bonner, Polson, Glacier Park, and other parts of Montana and Idaho. Authentic history of period logging mixed with a Hollywood love and hate story. Church screens movie on middle class
POLSON — The critically acclaimed film “Inequality for All” will be screened at Journey Be on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. The movie discusses the causes of the disappearance of the middle class. The 85-minute film is informative and entertaining and will be followed by discussion and refreshments. Everyone is invited. Journey Be is located at 101 Seventh Ave. E.

POLSON — Free technology classes are being offered at North Lake County Public Library in Polson during the month of February. Space is limited, so please call the library at (406) 883-8225 to register.
On Tuesday, Feb. 17, Introduction to the Internet will be taught from 11 a.m.-noon and from 2-3 p.m. This is a session for those with little or no experience using the Web.
The class will teach terminology, how to navigate the Web effectively, internet safety, and other beginning skills.

Hear about mental health issues
POLSON — The guest speaker for the Lake County Democrats meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 18, will be Megan Bailey, from Sunburst Mental Health Services. Megan will discuss the services available in Lake County, the challenges and successes of program efforts and the current legislative issues. The meeting will be held at the North Lake Public Library in Polson. A social hour begins at 6:30 p.m. with the program starting at 7 p.m. The public is invited.

SPLASH at new health facility
POLSON — Every month the Polson Chamber invites its members and members of the public to join them during the monthly Support Polson Late Afternoon Social Hour (SPLASH). SPLASH on Thursday, Feb. 19, will be hosted by Polson Health at 106 Ridgewater Drive, from 5-7 p.m.
The February event will include a ribbon cutting for this new facility, a department of Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Polson Health provides primary care and chiropractic care along with a wide range of visiting specialists.

Fun activities planned for Carnival
POLSON — Winter Carnival, the family-fun event at Polson High School, is Saturday, Feb. 21, from 8-10 p.m. This year’s theme is “Back to the 90s.” Join the fun at the high school gym for carnival games, bingo, cakewalk, and other fun activities and food. You can show your support for Polson High School classes and organizations. Purchase tickets for 50 cents each at the door and use them to play games and purchase food. Hospice training offered
POLSON — Polson’s Partners in Home Care/Hospice is offering a training session for volunteers. As a volunteer you can become part of a community of health care professionals dedicated in offering compassionate end of life care to our patients in the Mission Valley. Join in fundraising for Journey Be
POLSON — The fifth annual Winter Fest is on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Polson Elks Club Ballroom at 5 p.m. Admission is $10, which includes Montana Backyard Barbeque. Children under 12 years old are free.
The band Blue Smoke will follow a live auction. There will also be a silent auction, a 50/50 drawing and a basket raffle. Donation auction items are appreciated. This is a fundraiser for Journey Be, a nonprofit organization addressing hunger and homelessness.
