POLSON — The 29th annual Cowboy Ball takes place on Friday, April 26, under the big tent at the Polson Fairgrounds. No host cocktails and the silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction starting at 7:30 p.m. Following the auction there will be dancing to music of “sho-down.” Tickets are $50 each. POLSON — Polson Pachyderms will host a community discussion from a video by Mr. Reagan called “The Brains Behind Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.” It explains the ultimate goals of Alexandria’s campaign manager based on professed philosophy, which combines Nazism and Communism with threats of violence. In order for American communities to combat resurgence of historically dangerous political philosophies we have to become aware of the power behind Marxism and its growing threat in American civil and political life. POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library, 2 First Ave. E, will host the Montana Conversations program “Montana UFOs and Extraterrestrials” with Joan Bird on Friday, April 26, at 5:30. The presentation is free and open to the public. Montana is home to some of the most significant, well-documented, and interesting UFO reports in the history of ufology. Bird gives a short course in UFO literacy, using Montana events to illustrate different aspects of the phenomenon. Montana seems to be a place where there is a lot of historical UFO activity. POLSON — The spring session of “Moving for Better Balance,” an adapted Tai Chi program, will begin on Tuesday, April 9. POLSON — The National Day of Prayer event will take place on Thursday, May 2, from noon-1 p.m. on the Lake County courthouse front lawn. POLSON — Join the CSKT Mussel Walk with local middle school students and community members and help us protect our water from aquatic invasive species on May 3 at Salish Point from 9-11 a.m. Rotate between four interactive information stations: mussel identification, a mussel-dog demonstration, aquatic invasive species life cycle questions and answers, and a mussel walk/shoreline cleanup. This is a joint effort of CSKT, UM Flathead Lake Bio Station, and the Flathead Lakers.

POLSON — On May 3, at 7 p.m. in the Polson High School auditorium, the real-life father-daughter team who have been performing their original brand of mind-reading since 2012, will work together to create stage pieces that are unexpected, inventive and, of course, funny. POLSON — The Northwest Accordion Association will hold a community dance May 5 from 2-5 p.m. in the Elks ballroom. There’s more than accordion music; a variety of music is played for you to listen to or dance to. You do not have to be a member of the Elks or the Accordion Association to attend, sing or play. Remember, if you sing or play you don’t pay. Admission is $2 for members, $3 for non-members, and $5 to become a member of the association. Everyone is welcome. POLSON — The Lake County Republican Women’s group will meet at the Polson Rural Fire Hall on Monday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. Heidi Roedel, president of the Montana Federation of Republican Women, will speak on what is happening at the national level, and how we can work together to better serve our candidates. POLSON —The Polson Rotary Club will have its monthly open-social hour at the Perfect Shot on Main Street on Tuesday, May 14, at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in Rotary or good conversation is welcome. Rotary’s regular weekly meeting is on Tuesday, at 12:15 p.m., usually at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. The club is considering sponsoring a satellite club that would meet in the mornings or evenings, at least twice a month. A minimum of eight members is needed to meet requirements of Rotary International. Ronan is also being considered as a possibility for a satellite location. POLSON — The Polson Whitefish Credit Union, (110 Third Ave.), will hold their annual “Shred Day” on Wednesday, May 22, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Our Shred Day event is free to all Credit Union members and the public. Bring any unwanted paper documents, especially ones containing personal and confidential information, to one of our event locations to have your materials safely and securely destroyed on-site at no charge.
