Non-Partisan Potluck focuses on special election
POLSON — Please join Mission Valley Rises for our second, Non-Partisan Potluck for Democracy. We will meet on Sunday, April 30, from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Indian Senior Citizens Center, 701 First Street E. Our focus will be on Montana’s Special Election on May 25. We will meet with the candidates’ representatives, ask our questions, and share our ideas. We will also learn more about how, as individuals and in groups, we can be more effectively engaged in our democracy. People of all persuasions are encouraged to join us in a civil dialogue about the things that matter to us in our community, state and nation. Bring your ideas – and a dish to share. We will once again enjoy good food, listen to one another, and make new friends.

View ‘The Joy of Friendship’ exhibit through May 12
POLSON — The Sandpiper Gallery will exhibit “The Joy of Friendship,” a mixed media artwork show from April 10-May 12. This exhibit features member artists Olivia Olsen (mixed media), Larry Kjorvestad (photography), long time member Margie Hendricks (painter), jewelry by Sherry Jones, and guest fiber artist Monique Kleinhans, of Lady Bugs Cabin.

Medicare 101 Class offered
POLSON — The Medicare 101 class is for anyone turning 65 this year. There are many decisions to make, deadlines to meet and penalties to avoid. The Area VI Agency on Aging is offering the class on Tuesday, May 2, from 1-4 p.m. at the Lake Co Health Dept. meeting room, 802 Main Street. Those already on Medicare who’d like to understand it better are also welcome. The fee for the class is $30 or less, determined on a sliding scale. Energy Keepers CEO to address Polson Chamber
POLSON — On Wednesday, May 3, members of the Polson Chamber of Commerce will receive an update from Energy Keepers CEO Brian Lipscomb. Energy Keepers is a corporation of the Salish and Kootenai Tribes established to operate Séliš Ksanka Ql’ispé (formerly Kerr) Dam. The luncheon will be held at the KwaTaqNuk Resort from noon- 1 p.m. Cost for lunch is $14.50. Reservations are not required. Learn the Art of Zen Meditation

Republicans organize, elect officers
POLSON — The Lake County Republican Central Committee will be holding its county convention on Friday, May 5. The purpose of the meeting is to organize itself and elect new officers for the next two years. There will also be a discussion on how to get the word out to our county on the importance of supporting Greg Gianforte for the US Congress. Masumola Club helps beautify America
POLSON — The Masumola Club’s next meeting is Thursday, May 11. Hosts Christine and Gary Pitts say in May it’s time to do our share to beautify America. We will combine our obligation to police Rocky Point Road with our May meeting. Those who can, please come to the Masumola Clubhouse at 3:45 p.m. to get bags, vests etc. Bring your own gloves. People are also welcome to clean the kitchen etc. if they prefer. Hosts will provide appetizers and beer for people as they finish. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we can do that part outside. Hosts will also provide burgers and condiments for the dinner. Suggested food distribution for dinner is: A – H: salad or veggie; I – O hot dish; P – Z dessert. If you can’t come at 3:45 p.m., please come anyway. Community picnic includes art, music, auction
POLSON — Please join the Community Food and Agriculture Coalition, Polson Farmers Market, and the Lake County Council on Aging at Farm Road for Local Food for All: A Community Picnic on Saturday, May 13, from 1-6 p.m. The picnic will feature a pop-up art show, a taste of local fare, music, vendors, and a silent auction. Proceeds will increase food access to all at farmers’ markets in the Mission Valley and support the Double SNAP Dollar program. Plated dinner will be served from 3-4 p.m. and local beer will be available. Individual tickets are $20 and a family of four ticket is $75. The event will take place at 35060 Mud Lake Trail. POLSON — Tolerance is at the heart of the upcoming UnVariety Show, slated for May 19 at KwaTaqNuk Resort on May 19 and is co-sponsored by SKC Spirit of Many Colors, ACLU and SAFE Harbor. Spirit of Many Colors Club is a group founded to offer support to those from the LGBTQ community. Run, walk, support Relay for Life
POLSON — The Family Fun Mile and Skyline Challenge Run/Walk supports Lake County Relay for Life on Saturday, May 20. Registration is at 8 a.m. and start is at 9 a.m. at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, Thirteenth Ave. E. Registration forms are available at St. Joseph Medical Center’s front desk. Pre-registration price until May 13 is $35 for a family of four or more and $10 for individuals. After May 13, family registration is $45 and the individual price is $20. Free Internet Safety Class offered at library
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library will host a free Internet Safety class on Tuesday, May 23, at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room. Library Specialist Heather Miles will present an overview of Internet security and how to stay safe online. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops or tablets to follow along. Library laptops will also be available for attendees who don’t have a device. Anyone of any age or skill level is invited to attend. Registration is required.

Let spring inspire your coloring
POLSON — Spring Is Bustin’ Out All Over and an adult coloring program hosted by North Lake County Public Library will take place in the library meeting room on Wednesday, May 24. Two 90-minute sessions are offered at 2:30 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. Piano instrumental music is on tap for the afternoon session and the Mission Valley Choral Society Small Ensemble will appear for a set of vocal selections in the evening. The library provides coloring projects of all sizes, along with supplies and refreshments. Or, you may bring your own supplies. The library is located at 2 First Ave. E. POLSON — On Thursday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Miracle of America Museum, a mixed media program titled “Guns, Guns, Guns” will take place. We will begin with a short historic tour and exhibition of firearms dating from the first type up through cartridge guns. There will also be a safety issues presentation, information on buying your first gun, holsters, and ammunition, and information on legal issues. Pioneer Museum opens in Polson
POLSON — The Polson Flathead Historical Museum, “The Pioneer Museum on Main Street” invites you to view amazing exhibits of daily life in the Mission Valley and Flathead Lake area in the late 1800s and early 1900s, such as the stagecoach, chuck wagon, fire trucks, Calamity Jane’s saddle and Flathead Lake’s ‘Nessie” (some say it was, some say it wasn’t, caught here) and much more. We open for the season on Memorial Day each year, and go until Friday, Sept. 15. The museum is located at 708 Main Street and operates Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Closed on Sundays) There is a visitor fee of $10 and children under 10 years old are admitted free with a paying adult.
