Learn about grizzly migration crisis
POLSON — “The Great Grizzly Migrant Crisis: Bear Movements and Population Changes” will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s evening program on Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome. Join Kate Kendall as she explains the many ways DNA analysis of bear hair has become a powerful tool for studying bears in northwest Montana.
Learn the answers to important questions: Where is the grizzly population growing? What bears are new to the neighborhood? Why is that bear dating his granddaughter?
Masumola Club holds ‘south of the border’ party
POLSON — Host Liz Marchi says: We are all set for a festive south of the border, post Cinco de Mayo gathering on Thursday, May 12. Hosts Marchis and Andersons are providing beef and chicken enchiladas, salsa and chips and beans. Bill Amass wouldn't share his killer margarita recipe with them, but plans to make three gallons to share. Your secretary is hoping that there are plenty of folks there to share Bill's offering. Thank you, Bill.
Hosts are set with decor and music. Looks like members need to bring salads and desserts.
Suggested food distribution is as follows for May: A – H salad or veggie; I – O hot dish or whatever; P - Z dessert

Walk/run for Mothers
POLSON — Providence St. Joseph Medical Center will sponsor a Mother’s Day Mile and Sky Line Challenge Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, May 14, with registratiozzn at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Race starts from the front of St. Joseph Medical Center on Thirteenth Ave. W. Pre-registration until May 11 is $35 for a family of four or more and $10 for an individual. Registration after May 11 is $45 for a family of four or more and $20 for an individual. For more information or a registration form contact St. Joe’s front desk staff from 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life.

Dinner, childcare provided at IEC meeting
POLSON — We will hold the monthly JO’M Polson Indian Education Committee meeting on Monday, May 16, at Cherry Valley School in Polson. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and the meeting is at 6 p.m. in the school library. Childcare will be provided. This meeting is open to the public. Agenda items for May 16 are: finalize graduation presentation for JOM graduates; summer activities; funding for next year’s cultural activities; parent request.
Sandpiper announces Stromnes presentation
POLSON — Sandpiper Art and Gift Gallery announces a presentation by multi-media member artist Jean Stromnes, who will demonstrate a photo-transfer technique using Omni-Gel™ transfer medium. Her instructional demo is free and open to the public.
The regularly scheduled monthly membership meeting commences with her presentation at noon, Monday, May 16, at the Gallery located at 306 Main Street. Any additional membership business shall be addressed after the demonstration.

POLSON — Missoula Self Help Law Center will be in Polson on Tuesday, May 17, at the North Lake County Public Library from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. They provide services on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Walk-ins are welcome all day or to schedule an appointment call 406-258-3428.
