Youth invited to fly
POLSON – Young Eagles Flights EAA chapter 1122 will offer free airplane rides for kids ages 8-17 on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 9-11 a.m.
Registration forms and sign ups will be available on Saturday, Sept. 12, and at the fly-in.

Learn about herbs
POLSON – The Thyme for Herbs meeting is on Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room.
The topic will be: How to Combine Herbs for Optimal Effectiveness and the discussion will include: how to harvest and preserve herbs; harvesting seed; and when to use essential oils. POLSON— Ken’s Country Combo will play at the Wednesday, Sept. 16, community dance that begins at 7 p.m. at the Elks. Keep bringing your friends and neighbors. There was a good turnout at the Sept. 2 dance.

Calling All Lake County Democrats
POLSON – The Lake County Democrats’ “End of the Summer” picnic is at Boettcher Park at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept 18. Turkey and ham, non-alcoholic drinks and plates/utensils will be provided.
Bring a dish to share and a chair. Alcoholic beverages are permitted so BYOB.
Music will be provided and our special guest Monica Lindeen, candidate for Secretary of State will be the featured speaker.

Chamber uncorks fundraiser
POLSON — The second annual Chamber Uncorked fundraiser will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Polson Motorcoach Resort/KOA. Uncorked will also feature a tasting of Oktoberfest Brews and light hors d’oeuvres. Only 100 tickets will be sold for this event. Tickets are $45 and are available at the Chamber office at 418 Main Street. Deadline for purchasing tickets is Friday, Sept. 18.
Check your child’s car seat
POLSON — On Sept. 19 between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the parking lot of Walmart in Polson, there will be a Child Passenger Safety Check Station set up over by the garden area during the Polson Police Department’s annual Safety Days event, where you may stop by and have your child’s car seat checked. High school kids participate in rodeo
POLSON — Lake County High School Rodeo will be held at Polson Fairgrounds Sept. 19-20. Watch as the girls and boys participate in a wide range of rodeo activities: barrels, saddle broncs, goat tying, and breakaway and possibly sports shooting. POLSON — The Polson Rural Fire Board has scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station, 25 Regatta Road.
Sensory fun happens at PAT meeting
POLSON — “September Sensory Fun” is the name of the Parents as Teachers Community Connections event on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. A light lunch will be served. Pregnant moms and families with children under the age of 5 are welcome at this free program, held in the Lake County Health Department’s conference room, 801 Main Street. Pachyderms tackle Suicide prevention
POLSON – Regrettably, suicide is a serious problem in Lake County. No doubt some of these tragedies could be avoided if we knew more about the issue and could recognize some of the warning signs. The public is invited to hear and interact with Roxana Colman-Herak as she discusses the topic of suicide at the meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club, Friday, Sept. 25, at noon. The meeting will be held in the Polson Rural Fire Hall on Regatta Road near the fairgrounds.
In October, Roxana will be teaching a two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training course along with her husband Marty at Salish-Kootenai College.
The Pachyderm Club holds informational meetings the second and fourth Fridays of each month.

Barbecue to benefit motorcycle victims
POLSON — A benefit barbecue, raffle, 50/50 and silent auction for Victor Moldenhauer and Montana “Tana” Bosker will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 3 p.m.-midnight at the Sportspage Bowl and Lounge. Victor and Tana recently sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident. The barbecue dinner, with all the fixin’s, is $10 per plate or $30 per family. A silent auction will be held from 3-8 p.m. and Gladys Friday will perform live music from 8-11 p.m. Donations may be made at Whitefish Credit Union.
Car show on tap at MVCA
POLSON — Mission Valley Christian Academy will hold their first annual car show on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the school.
