Republicans host ‘Get to Know Your Candidate Series’
POLSON — The Lake County Republican Central Committee will host the next “Get to Know Your Candidate Series” with speaker Kim Christopher. She has served as district judge for 18 years and will share her goals in running again as district judge for Lake and Sanders counties. All are invited to hear the judge speak on Sept. 28 from noon-1 p.m. at Rural Polson Fire Depart. off Regatta Road.

Polson Shooters Association offers ‘Free Shoot Day’
POLSON — The Polson Shooters Association is holding their annual open house and public “Free Shoot Day” on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Join us to check out the range with the newly completed electric gate, to sight-in your rifle for elk/ deer season and for a free lunch of hot dogs and soft drinks. Bring a friend, a neighbor or a family member. Sign up or renew your membership for another year. Dues received now will subscribe or renew you through all of 2019. Dance at Elks Club in Polson
POLSON — Please join us for the community dance in the ballroom at the Elks Club on Main Street on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 7-10 p.m. We provide snacks during the 8:30 p.m. break. The music is provided by Ken’s Country Combo and plays a variety of vintage country and rock and roll tunes. Everyone is welcome. An Elks membership is not required. The cover charge is $5. Library invites fantasy author to speak
POLSON — The first National Endowment for the Arts’ ‘Big Read’ event takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m. at the North Lake County Library. Come meet Jess E. Owen, a Montana writer of “The Summer King Chronicles” fantasy series. She will discuss the influence of fantasy writing and the works of Ursula Le Guin on her authorship.
Zen meditation class offered
POLSON — An introductory Zen meditation class is being offered at the YogaHeart Studio, 314 Main Street, on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. The class will be presented by Zen Priest Zenku, Jerry Smyers. There is no charge for the class. Everyone is welcome. For more details call 847-721-0665.

POLSON — On Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. at the North Lake County Library meet Carolyn Rutherford, founder of the Jwalan Muktika School for Illumination, as she presents, “Taoism and balance in A Wizard of Earthsea: A discussion on the ideas and themes of Taoism.”
Story Time session held at Polson library
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library is starting a new session of Story Time for 3- to 5-year-old children, their siblings and their caregivers. Northwest Accordion Association invites all
POLSON — The Northwest Accordion Association will hold a musical jam and dance on Sunday, Oct. 7, in the ballroom at the Elks Club on Main Street. There will be a variety of music you can listen or dance to. You do not have to be a member of the Elks Club or the Accordion Association to attend, sing or play. If you sing or play you don’t pay. Admission is $2 for members, $3 for non-members, and $5 to become a member of the association. Everyone is welcome.

Learn to knit at Polson library through Oct. 30
POLSON — For four Tuesdays in October (9, 16, 23, and 30), North Lake County Public Library is offering four learn-to-knit sessions at 2 p.m. in the library atrium. Library volunteer and “Knitter-Extraordinaire,” Linda Kittle will be available to guide you and answer questions in the process as new knitters learn the beginning steps of casting on, garter and purl stitch, increasing and decreasing and binding off. Needles and yarn for practice will be available. The teapot will be on. Guys and gals, young and old, you can do this.
Rosendale meets, greets in Polson
POLSON — Matt Rosendale, the candidate for the U.S. Senate, will be in Polson on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m. for a meet and greet at the Republican Headquarters, 212 Main Street. Please come out to meet Matt face to face; this is a great opportunity for people in Lake County to meet a congressional candidate.

Apply for vacancy on Flathead Basin Commission
POLSON — The Flathead Basin Commission will hold its next meeting on Oct. 10, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Kwataqnuk Resort. The morning portion of the meeting will focus on administrative business as well as discussion and potential decisions on action items. An overview of priority issues will be provided. There is currently a vacancy on the FBC for a governor-appointed position. Interested parties should fill out an application form and apply by emailing boards@mt.gov. Nominations are also accepted. Email: kate.wilson@mt.gov for more information. The FBC was created in 1983 by the Montana Legislature to monitor and protect water quality and the natural resources in the Flathead Basin. Join ‘Orange You Glad It’s Fall?’
POLSON — An Adult Coloring Program entitled, “Orange You Glad It’s Fall?” will take place at the North Lake County Library on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 2-4 p.m. in the meeting room.
Sharpen your pencils, coloring fans. Participants will briefly explore the dynamic color orange, followed by a time of relaxed coloring and fun conversation while knoshing on popcorn and drinking pumpkin spice coffee (or tea). All coloring supplies are provided. You may also bring your own. Time to break out the fall colors.
Take a photo tour of Botswana’s delta
POLSON — “Wildlife of Botswana’s Okavango Delta,” by Ron Hoff will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s next program on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome. Ron’s photo tour will introduce you to the huge wetland swamp created by the Okavango River and many of its creatures. Ron Hoff earned his Master’s degree from U of M’s Flathead Lake Biological Station and is a retired biology teacher from Hellgate High School in Missoula.
