‘Winter Book Chat’ starts Jan. 26 through Feb. 16
RONAN — A “Winter Book Chat,” sponsored by Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Ronan Public Library, 203 Main Street. Dave Kaufmann, former Charlo history teacher, will host the chat about the book “Tough Trip Through Paradise,” by Andrew Garcia, a packer and mountain man. On consecutive Thursdays: Feb. 2, 9, and 16, additional chats will take place. Call 406-676-2837 if you need to purchase a book.
AARP offers free tax assistance
RONAN — The AARP Tax-Aide Program provides free help in preparing and electronically filing federal and state income tax returns for low to moderate-income taxpayers. This service is free to taxpayers of any age. Help will be available at the Ronan Senior Center every Wednesday starting the first week of February by appointment only. Call 406- 676-2371.
Take charge of diabetes through Feb. 8
RONAN — Do you have Medicare and want to get control of your diabetes or pre-diabetes as part of your 2017 New Year’s resolution? Then make the start of the New Year the start to a new you with free classes. Join us and learn how to take charge of your health and manage your diabetes at Lake County Extension Office, 300 Third Ave. NW, on Wednesdays, Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25 and Feb. 1 and 8 from 1:30-3 p.m. To register, call 406-676-4271. These free, interactive classes are meant to support, not replace, professional diabetes education. Classes designed for people with Medicare but all are welcome.

Horsemen to discuss feeding stock in wilderness
RONAN — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will hold their next monthly meeting on Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ronan VFW on Round Butte Rd. Mack and Connie Long, owners of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Outfitters, will discuss the care and feeding of stock in the wilderness. You won’t want to miss this one folks. The public is invited and encouraged to attend our meetings. Come see what our organization is all about.

Meeting, appliqué class on tap for quilters
RONAN — On Feb. 7, the Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their regular guild meeting at the Terrace Lake Community Church in Ronan with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. and a class on appliqué starting at 4 p.m., with a small charge.
