ARLEE — Karen Goulet, director of the Salish Kootenai Art Department, will be the featured artist at the Killdeer Artisans’ Guild summer show. The show presents new works from Montana artists at Hangin’ Art Gallery in Arlee. The show will remain up until Oct. 24.

RONAN — Pastor Seth Nelson of Faith Lutheran Church will offer a free, three-week course entitled “Martin Luther and his Legacy.” The course will cover the history of Martin Luther’s life and work and the reformation movement, which he started. PAT to hold free Halloween event
POLSON — The Parents as Teachers is sponsoring a “Community Connection” event open to all area parents on Friday, Oct. 17, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The lunchtime event takes place in the Public Health Department’s conference room at 802 Main Street.
They will show you how to make some healthy Halloween treats and talk about fun ideas for the holiday. Information about the PAT program and lunch will be provided. A Ninja smoothie maker is the door prize and donated baby and toddler clothes are there to take home.
The PAT program is a free, voluntary program that provides twice monthly home visits with age-appropriate activities for children from birth to age five, developmental screenings, and information and referrals to area resources. Film encourages healing
RONAN — At 1 p.m. on Oct. 19 the Entertainer Cinema will show the Native American film, “Dakota,” where 38 riders retrace the 330-mile route from Lower Brule, South Dakota to Mankato, Minn. on the anniversary of the largest mass execution in US history.

Free admission offered to Lady Bison basketball game
PABLO – Salish Kootenai College Lady Bison will open the basketball season Oct. 19 with a home game at noon at the Joe McDonald gym. The SKC Lady Bison will be hosting Northwest Indian College (NWIC) from Bellingham, Washington.
These two teams faced off last year in the AIHEC Tribal College championship game with the Lady Bison coming out on top capturing their 4th title out of the last 8 seasons. NWIC would like to avenge the loss as both teams prepare to meet up in Crow, Montana at the end of the season for a chance to claim the title of National Tribal College Basketball Champions.
The SKC Lady Bison would like to fill the gym, so free admission is being offered for this game.

Dinner to serve Swedish meatballs
POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, in the church fellowship hall. The cost for the dinner is $10 per adult, $4 per child under 10 years. Fair Trade coffee will also be available for purchase. POLSON — In honor of October as domestic violence awareness month, Prevention and Education of Abuse and Christian Environments, (PEACE), will hold their first official fundraiser. Dinner, auction to benefit cancer fighter
POLSON — A benefit dinner and silent auction will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Polson VFW for Becky Cooper, a longtime waitress at Regatta Pizza who is fighting stage four colon rectal cancer. Because Becky is a huge football fan, people are asked to come wearing Becky’s favorite Pittsburgh Steelers’ colors — yellow and black — or any NFL team jersey or colors.
Organizers are also seeking donation items for the silent auction.
All proceeds will go to Becky’s medical expenses.

ARLEE — Staff from the “Parents as Teachers” program of the Lake County Public Health Department will be at the Hangin’ Art Gallery in Arlee on Wednesday Oct. 29 from 10-11:30 a.m. for a “Tots and Treats” playgroup. There will be activities, information and snacks. All area parents are welcome to the free, voluntary program. PAT provides twice monthly home visits to pregnant moms and those with children birth to age five with activities, screenings, and information.
