POLSON — A free community dinner will be served on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 2 Seventh Ave. E. The menu includes a harvest chicken dinner with all the trimmings. This is our final dinner for the season. All are welcome.

POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 45th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, in the church fellowship hall. The cost for the dinner is $10 per adult, $4 per child under 10 years. Fair Trade coffee will also be available for purchase. Dinner proceeds will benefit the local Cheerful Heart organization and Little Friends Preschool.

POLSON — Chris Bumgarner, administrator of the Mission Valley Christian Academy in Polson, will be the guest speaker at the Friday, Oct. 23, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club at the Rural Polson Fire Hall on Regatta Road. The meeting begins at noon and social time is at 11:30 a.m.

RONAN — A Halloween costume rummage sale will take place on Friday, Oct. 23, from 3:30-6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The proceeds will go to the junior class for this year’s prom. POLSON — The Firefighter’s Appreciation “Halloween Bash” will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 5-11 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. There will be a chili feast, live music and DJ, dancing, a 50/50 drawing, a costume contest and a silent and a live auction. The entry fee is $10. RONAN — The final film in the Indigenous Film series, “The Place of the Falling Waters,” by locals Thompson Smith and Roy Bigcrane, will be shown at the Entertainer Cinema at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. This documentary details the history and acquisition of the former Kerr Dam (now the Salish Kootenai Dam) from the perspective of the Salish and Kootenai people. The creators will lead a discussion of the film.

POLSON — Join the Montana Masters Swim Clinic and swim with Montana Masters at Mission Valley Aquatics on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. -noon. All levels are welcome. The cost is $25, but if you’re a USMS member, it’s free. This two-hour clinic will cover all four strokes as well as starts and turns (time permitting). All levels of skill and ability are welcome. With a variety of coaches on deck, all with different experiences, you will come away from the clinic with some new ideas and drills to help you on your quest to swimming greatness.

POLSON — Lake County Health Department is offering an immunization clinic on Monday, Oct. 26, at Polson High School auditorium during first and second periods. Parents or guardians that complete the proper forms and return them with payment or insurance verification can have their child receive the first varicella immunization on Oct. 26. POLSON — On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the National Alliance on Mental Illness will present the movie, “The King’s Speech” in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room at 6:30 p.m. A discussion will be led by Julie Fleck, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Sonya Milheim, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This is part of a film/discussion series called “Minds Matter” presented during the month of October. Refreshments will be served. All events are free and open to the public.

ST. IGNATIUS — Mission Valley United Methodist Church on Post Creek Hill is again hosting their Trunk or Treat for families on Oct. 31. Cars will be in the parking lot with goodies for the children from 4-6 p.m. This is a safe and fun activity for the family. 

BIG ARM — The Big Arm Association will sponsor a “Charlie Brown Halloween” event at our historic Big Arm School on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 2-4 p.m. There will be games, crafts, snacks, and activities centered on the video, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” Costumes are optional. ST. IGNATIUS — A community trunk-o-treat and chili cook-off will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. at the LDS Church in St. Ignatius. POLSON — On Oct. 5 Sandpiper Art Gallery starts a new month-long show in memory of John Davis entitled “Driven to Abstraction.”

This non-juried show is open to all artists. Artistic interpretation of the theme, in any medium, will be accepted. Miracle of America Museum have 4 or 5 metal sculptures there, one of which is very emotionally charged about drunk driving. The show runs from Oct. 5-Nov. 14.

RONAN – Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ronan VFW. Connie Long will give a Power Point presentation about what the Back Country Horsemen is all about. Hope to see you there.

RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will have its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Terrace Lake Community Church.
