Community Dance returns
POLSON — The Community Dance makes a return on New Year’s Eve at the Elks with Heart to Heart as the band of choice. There will be a potluck with champagne at midnight. Dance with us from 8 p.m. to midnight plus.
Community invited to alcohol-free celebration
RONAN — The public is invited to spend the evening of Dec. 31 together enjoying a free meal of prime rib and salmon. The New Year’s dinner begins at Ronan Community Center with a non-alcoholic social time at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner from 7-8 p.m. with entertainment. Although the event is free, seating is limited to 210 people, so interested community members must RSVP in advance to Melinda Smith at (406) 275-2700, ext.1295 or Roxana Colman-Herak at (406) 210-7343. The dinner is grant-funded and sponsored by the Suicide Prevention Program of Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Social Services.

POLSON — Second Thursdays programs are held each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Miracle of America Museum in Polson. There’s free and fun family entertainment, including movies, reading and tours of select items.
The Jan. 8 program is the video “Journey to the Titanic” with world famous artist Roger Bansemer in his 2005 dive to the Titanic. It includes his painting of the Titanic on the ocean floor as he viewed it through the dive vessel’s viewport. Every artist who has seen this or the two 30 to 45-minute programs of painting subjects done at our museum have said they learned something. This is a great program for art classes to see. Sheriff Bell to speak on county crime
POLSON — Don Bell, newly elected Lake County Sheriff, will be the featured speaker at the Friday, Jan. 9, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. Sheriff Bell is expected to discuss what he considers to be the most serious law enforcement problems facing our county and how these issues should be dealt with.
All are invited to the meeting set to begin a noon in the Polson Rural Fire Department building on Regatta Road near the rodeo grounds. Social time for brown bag lunch begins at 11:30 a.m.

Arlee seniors pack a full meeting agenda
ARLEE — The Arlee Senior Citizens, Inc., located at 34532 Weissinger, will have their annual meeting on Saturday, Jan. 10, following their Saturday dinner.
Members will review the annual treasurer’s report, the list of 2014 events, provide thank yous to members and elect new board members. All seniors are invited to attend. Annual dues of $5 for 2015 are being accepted. The Arlee seniors have meals every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon, and every second and fourth Saturday at 6 p.m. Meals-on-wheels are also available for seniors on those same days and evenings. Entertainment includes bingo, pool, puzzles, TV and reading materials are available and we encourage you to use these.
Quilt all day with guild
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their January meeting on Jan. 10 at the LDS church in Ronan. It will be an all-day sew-day from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., with catered lunch and a meeting after lunch at about 1:30 p.m. Please bring your irons, ironing boards, sewing machines and your 3 ? inch twister ruler. We will be working on the “Raffle Quilt,” ribbons for the quilt show, country store items or whatever you want to work on. Don’t forget your show and tell. See you there; everyone is welcome.
