POLSON — A series of mid-week worship services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 409 4th Ave. E., begins with the Thanksgiving Eve service on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. Advent soup suppers and services will be Wednesdays, Dec. 4, 11 and 19.
Suppers will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the worship services begin at 6:30 p.m. The choir and youth group will meet after services at 7:15 p.m.

Christmas classic staged at Dowdall Theatre weekends through 12/15
POLSON — Make plans to see “A Christmas Carol,” Charles Dickens’ immortal story of Scrooge. The Port Polson Players in association with The Mission Valley Friends of the Arts, stage the production at the John Dowdall Theatre Dec. 6,7,8 and the following weekend Dec. 13, 14, and 15. Free suicide intervention training available
PABLO — A free two-day suicide intervention skills training will be offered Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 9 and 10 at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo. Participants must attend all sessions both days. Sessions are held from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Pete Beaverhead building #67, rooms 102 and 104. Seating is limited to 30. A continental breakfast and lunch is provided. Course credits of 14 educational hours can be applied to LAC, SWP, MLEA and OPI. There is no cost for any of these ASIST trainings largely to a SAMHSA grant and the CSKT Circle of Trust Youth Suicide Prevention Program.

“Young Lakota” screened in Pablo, Arlee and Elmo
PABLO — The Adeline Mathias Endowment and the CSKT Community Empowerment Program present three Flathead Reservation screenings of “Young Lakota,” a documentary on real life political issues focused on women's rights and tribal awareness. Everyone is invited to participate in these free screenings scheduled for Dec. 10, 11 and 12 in Pablo, Arlee and Elmo.
The program begins at 6 p.m. with light refreshments, and the show starts at 6:30. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Dec. 10 SKC Johnny Arlee/Victor Charlo Theater; Wednesday, Dec. 11 Arlee Community Center; and Thursday, Dec. 12 Elmo Community Center.
This film depicts an actual account of tribal politics with a very powerful message for the tribal electorate.

Banks display Spirit Baskets until drawings
RONAN/POLSON — Community Spirit Baskets are on display at both the Ronan and Polson Community Bank lobbies until the separate drawings for each community.
Community Bank in Ronan will hold their raffle drawing on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Ronan Bank at 6 p.m. on Dec. 12.
Swan Hill Bed and Breakfast and Community Bank in Polson will host the 2013 Splash Christmas Event, “Come Home for Christmas” from 5-7 p.m., with the Community Spirit Basket raffle drawing taking place at 6:30 p.m. Free bus transportation will be provided to Swan Hill Bed and Breakfast from Riverside Park, with departures beginning at 4:45 p.m. and continuing approximately every 15 minutes. The last bus leaves the park at 6:30 p.m. and the last bus leaves Swan Hill to Riverside Park at 7:15 p.m.
Proceeds from both events will benefit Lake County Food Pantries. You need not be present to win.

Museum to hold monthly activity
POLSON — On a trial basis, the Miracle of America Museum will be hosting an activity night on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The events are free to the public, although donations are accepted. Participants are welcome to bring cookies or other treats to share.
The Dec. 12 program will be a classic short movie starring Jimmy Stewart and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in “Mr. Krueger's Christmas,” followed by a poem written during WWII by the Lake County Superintendent of Schools. If you have a favorite Christmas poem, we invite you to share. A piano is available if your family wants to play and sing.
