POLSON — The show "Sketch the Sculpture" will open at Sandpiper Art Gallery on Friday, Jan. 15. There will be drinks and hors d'oeuvres from 5-7 p.m. The display runs until Feb. 19.

People’s Center to offer Youth Dance classes

Annual Winter Fest to benefit ‘Soup’s On’
POLSON — Blue Smoke will headline Polson’s Seventh Annual Winter Fest, Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Elks Club Ball Room, beginning at 5 p.m. “Soup’s On,” a free food program relies on this yearly fundraiser to support these efforts. Admission is only $10, which includes a Montana Feast in the Spirit of the Valley. Desserts will feature our finest bakers who volunteer weekly at Soup’s On. Children under 10 are free. A silent auction and 50/50 drawing are also on tap. Donation items for the auction are greatly appreciated. Zinke representative to speak at meeting
POLSON — John Fuller, Northwest Montana Field Director for Congressman Ryan Zinke, will speak at the Friday, Feb. 26, noon meeting of the Pachyderm Club at the Polson Rural Fire Department meeting room. Free grief support group offered through March 31
POLSON — Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is offering a free Bereavement Support Group, an eight-week series for adults grieving the death of a loved one. The group includes education about grief and loss and provides participants an opportunity to share their experiences. It is recommended that participants wait at least two months after a death before attending a group. This group is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated.
The group will meet from 4-5:30 p.m. each Thursday, Feb. 11- March 31, in the O’Malley conference room on the second floor of

POLSON — Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is celebrating Heart Health Month during February with heart screenings for $49. Please do not eat or drink anything for 10 hours before the test. New exhibit shown at Sandpiper through April 1
POLSON — The art exhibit, Totally Fowl, features the works of Lynn Johnson – felting; Donna Miller – jewelry; Julie Christopher – sculpter/painter; Susie McNatt – photographer; and invited artist Alex Wright – multimedia; plus a special display from Viola Deputy, a memorial exhibit. The show runs through April 1.
Plaiss offers horsemen NRA class
RONAN — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will hold their next monthly meeting on March 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW on Round Butte Rd, in Ronan.
Our program will be a 45-minute version of: The NRA’s “Refuse to be a Victim” class taught by certified instructor Tracy Plaiss. There will be time after for questions. She will talk about how to stay aware out in the backcountry or at a trailhead. She will also address suspicious phone calls and credit card use. She is an engaging speaker with tons of details that we may not have thought of before. As always, the public is invited to attend.
Quilters come together
RONAN — Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will have their regular guild meeting March 1 at the Terrace Lake Community Church at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome. Bring your show and tell to share. There will be three classes in March: March 3, 5, 30 and 31. The April meeting will be our annual potato social.
Ronan adult education offers active choices through March 31
RONAN — Ronan School District adult education winter session is on. The walking track and weight room at the Ronan Middle School Event Center will be open Monday-Thursday at 6 a.m.- 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. The K. William Harvey Gym will be open for the community to play basketball on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m., beginning Jan. 26 and ending March 15. The Event Center will be open for the community to play volleyball on Wednesday nights from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m., beginning Jan. 27 and ending March 16. Lipscomb to speak about dam acquisition
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meet the first and third Thursday each month at KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Our speaker on March 3 will be Brian Lipscomb, the CEO of Energy Keepers, who was the lead person in the acquisition of the Kerr Dam. He will speak about the dam transition and where we are today.
