Lake County vendors invited to Bigfork through Oct. 9

BIGFORK — The Bigfork Farmers’ Market Cooperative will take place each Wednesday until October 9. The market takes place between 3-6 p.m. on the lawn at The Bigfork VFW, 8098 Highway 35. Ronan Farmers Market through September 26

RONAN — The 2019 Ronan Farmers Market will open on Thursday, May 16, at the Ronan Visitors’ Center. Hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursdays throughout the spring and summer until Sept. 26 (except for July 4). For more information, call 406-676-5901 or go to cryse. heiner@lakecountycdc.org. They are seeking produce and prepared food vendors. The Ronan Farmers Market offers fresh produce, cheeses, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods, and crafts from the Mission Valley.

Shop local at Polson's farmers market through Sept. 

POLSON — Starting on Friday, May 3, Polson Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Friday, rain or shine. The market is located at Third Ave. W. and will have homegrown produce and plants, coffee, jewelry, soaps, popsicles, baked goods, meats, eggs, cheese, preserved foods, fabric, photographic and handmade art, beauty products, wood working and much, much more. Class offers help for caregivers through June 7

POLSON — Are you caring for a loved one? Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is hosting the Area VI Agency on Aging’s six-week series of classes designed to help caregivers with the many physical and emotional challenges they face. Library begins monthly movie night

POLSON — Enjoy “Friday Night at the Library” on the fourth Friday of each month. North Lake County Library will show movies rated PG or PG-13 ( posted on our website) and make fresh popcorn. This program debuts Friday, Jan. 25. Be in the library before 6 p.m. to be included. Feel free to bring your own nonalcoholic beverage and snacks.

Move for better balance

RONAN — Tai Ji Quan is a moving-for-better-balance class and will be offered by a certified instructor at the MSU Lake County Extension on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. beginning May 13. This is an alternative exercise training program for improving balance and preventing falls. There is no cost. Please wear good shoes and clothes you can move in and bring water. Move for better balance through June

POLSON — The spring session of “Moving for Better Balance,” an adapted Tai Chi program, will begin on Tuesday, April 9. MSU alumni play golf

MSU alumni play golf POLSON — Polson Bay Golf Club will host the MSU golf scramble on July 27. The format will be similar to last year’s event. The scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. followed by a social hour and barbecue. The entry fee is $500 per team. All proceeds benefit the MSU Bobcat Athletic Scholarship Fund. New exhibit begins at Sandpiper Art Gallery through June 14

POLSON — Sandpiper Art Gallery, 306 Main Street, Polson, presents until June 14, “As I Was Wandering.” This exhibit will be everything we love about Montanans and the Montana experience. This show will feature past and present member artists; Sue Arneson (Montana Watercolor Artist), Carolyn Ekland-Olson (World Wide Photography), Karla Martinson (3D Paintings & Publisher), Mary Kelley (Plein Aire and the Old Masters in Oil), Judith Wright (Mixed Media). Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday.

Recovery support available

RONAN —Recovery support is available for those struggling with addiction at The Never Alone Recovery Hall (Hwy. 93, old Boys and Girls Club), every day of the week. The Never Alone Recovery Hall is a peer support dropin center. We are simply recovering people offering our experience, strength, and hope to our community members who are struggling with addiction issues. All groups and services are free. Please feel welcome to drop in and check us out.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays a noon meditation group is held and from 1-5 p.m. individual peer support is available.

Mondays a women’s support group takes place from 6-8 p.m.

Tuesdays there are recovery stories and videos heard from 6-8 p.m.

Wednesdays Narcotics Anonymous meets from 6-8 p.m.

Thursdays an early recovery skills groups meets from 6-8 p.m.

Fridays from 8-9 p.m. The Red Road to Recovery group meets.

Saturdays a co-dependent support group meets at 5 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. special events take place (events change).

Family movie night happens from 6-8 p.m. on Sundays.

Mission Mountain ladies league organizing

Free film screening offered

Don’t be late for egg hunt

ST. IGNATIUS — On Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. sharp (don’t be late), the St. Ignatius Chamber will sponsor an Easter egg hunt at the St. Ignatius High School football field. There will be a raffle and bake sale with casseroles and baked goodies at the St. Ignatius Senior Center from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Help raise money for the Mission Mountain Pageant. There will be prizes for each age group: 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12 years old. You will have an opportunity to take your picture with the Easter Bunny.

View spring waterfowl at west valley ponds

KALISPELL — Flathead Audubon will host a field trip to the West Valley ponds in Kalispell on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m.-noon. The group will visit several ponds in the West Valley area including the new public bird viewing area. Expect to see lots of migrating waterfowl and look for shorebirds, raptors, and early passerines. Roads will be both paved and gravel. This trip will be primarily driving. Join ‘Earth Day’ fun with PAT group

POLSON — The Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program is celebrating Earth Day with a fun-filled “Group Connection” from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Lake County Health Department’s conference room, 802 Main Street. Families with children under 5 years old are invited to come and enjoy some sensory play, crafts, and learn about planting seeds and other ways to enjoy and care for the Earth. Snacks will be provided and each family will receive a book about Earth Day. The PAT program is a free, voluntary program that provides twice-monthly home visits with age-appropriate activities for children from birth to age five. We also provide developmental screenings, information and referrals to area resources. Families can be enrolled in the PAT program as soon as mom is pregnant, which many moms-to-be and dads find to be very helpful, since babies don’t come with a manual. Help make community clean, beautiful April 24-28

RONAN — Ronan cleanup days begin on Wednesday, April 24. Meet at the Ronan High School football field where bags and gloves will be supplied for clean-up from 3:45-6 p.m. Ronan students will be pitching in. There will be a dumpster available from April 24-28 to put any collected trash into.

Do you have a large item or multiple items you need to dispose of but can’t get to the dumpster in town? Do you live within Ronan City Limits? If yes is your answer to both these questions, then we can help. Call Ronan Town Hall at 406-676-4231 to schedule a pick up. Please note, this is to assist with loading item(s) and not a clean-up crew to rake or pick up trash. Our volunteers are happy to help load what you need to get rid of but it must be accessible and ready to go. Please bag small items if possible. Pick up dates are between April 24-28. Lake County Sheriff and Ronan Police Department will be on hand for safety and traffic control.

Make a shawl at the People’s Center

We have sewing machines for your use and will provide instruction for a fee of $15 per person to cover instructor costs. POLSON — The 29th annual Cowboy Ball takes place on Friday, April 26, under the big tent at the Polson Fairgrounds. No host cocktails and the silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction starting at 7:30 p.m. Following the auction there will be dancing to music of “sho-down.” Tickets are $50 each. Pachyderms plan community discussion

POLSON — Polson Pachyderms will host a community discussion from a video by Mr. Reagan called “The Brains Behind Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.” It explains the ultimate goals of Alexandria’s campaign manager based on professed philosophy, which combines Nazism and Communism with threats of violence. In order for American communities to combat resurgence of historically dangerous political philosophies we have to become aware of the power behind Marxism and its growing threat in American civil and political life. Talk about UFOs

POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library, 2 First Ave. E, will host the Montana Conversations program “Montana UFOs and Extraterrestrials” with Joan Bird on Friday, April 26, at 5:30. The presentation is free and open to the public. Montana is home to some of the most significant, well-documented, and interesting UFO reports in the history of ufology. Bird gives a short course in UFO literacy, using Montana events to illustrate different aspects of the phenomenon. Montana seems to be a place where there is a lot of historical UFO activity.
