Editor,

Listening to the theatrics of the Montana “Water Compact Commission” caused me to wonder about all those who are dining at the public trough thanks totally to the blood, sweat and tears shed every day for an entire lifetime by men and women who kick themselves out of bed all hours to care for their farms, ranches, families in all manner of weather. These families, working with a dedication that boggles the mind because they love doing that which they love to do, otherwise, why on earth would they be exposing themselves to all manner of hardships and danger?

In looking at the group sitting around the table all I saw was a group of people who’s sole purpose in life was and is to eat from the public trough. None care about anything but themselves. What do we receive in return or more important; what do we lose? You discover that you’re a non-entity, a pesky fly that needs swatting. Every person at that table dines from the public trough; all the while working to destroy their fellow citizens.

How many times must citizens pay for a reservation, how many times must families pay for an irrigation system? In China if you’re executed, the family that remains is charged for the bullets that killed you. In Lake County, we’re being forced to pay for our destruction meanwhile the commission eats well. Some have the mindset that, (you can negotiate). Unbelievable, how often must you be hit in the head before you get it, there is no negotiation?
