Editor,

I’ve known Cole Snyder for as long as I can remember. Our mothers are good friends and we always have been too. The last thing I see Cole as is a “drug dealer” let alone a “child abuser.”

Recently, as most of us already know, Cole got himself into a little trouble. Let me inform you, he has taken responsibility and he does have consequences.

I hate to break it to everyone, but girls send pictures to boys, and guess what else? People experiment with drugs. In no way am I saying those things are right, I’m saying mind your own business.

I couldn’t push the golden rule enough in any life situation: treat others how you would want to be treated.

I’ve seen and heard some of the most horrible things about my friend: “Rapist, wonder how much his parents are worth, he should be expelled from school.” I even saw someone write that because Cole is white he’s getting off easily. Really? How would you feel if this was your son? With his whole future right in front of him, even if some of these things were said about yourself, what would you do?

Cole’s not a sex offender. He’s not a drug source. He has one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever come across. He’s a human being, like the rest of us, far from perfect.

Stay strong Cole Samuel. You’re better than all of this and I believe in you.
