When your teens are in high school, anything can happen. Our son was a student at Great Falls High School in the mid-seventies. On a beautiful warm Saturday he and a group of teens and their parents decided to picnic in the Little Belt mountains; after a delightful picnic lunch, a game of “steal the flag” began and soon teens were running all over the timbered mountainside seeking to steal the other teams flag. The contest continued until it was time for everyone to head home. About the time everyone was loaded and ready to depart the picnic site; our son told us that he had lost his glasses during the excitement of chasing opponents through the timber. It was too late in the day to go looking for lost glasses. Later that evening, I asked a group of friends if they would pray that we would find the lost glasses the next morning so that we could be back in town before classes began at Great Falls High. They said that they would pray.
Our son and I left early the next morning to make a hurried drive to yesterday’s picnic location. Forty or 50 minutes later we arrived at our destination. I said, “Let’s pray and ask the Lord to show us where we can find the glasses.” I prayed a simple short prayer. We left the car and started through the woods looking in every direction. Before we had searched fifteen minutes, we were surprised to see the glasses right at our feet. My son and I will always remember the thrill of finding the glasses as well as God’s answer to our prayer.
At noon this Thursday, May 7, a group of people will gather in front of the Lake County Courthouse to pray for our country on the National Day of Prayer. Everyone is welcome.
