Polson Dollars for Scholars awarded 45 scholarships to graduating seniors and college students this spring. Each student received an award letter with instructions to inform Polson Dollars for Scholars the name of the college they are attending, the college address and their student ID number by July 10. This information is needed as scholarship checks are mailed to the designated colleges.
To date, we would like to thank the 30 students who have sent thank you cards, letters or emails providing this information. For the remaining 15 students, Polson Dollars for Scholars is unable to send the scholarship money due to the lack of current information submitted. It is perplexing and frustrating when the basic information needed to award scholarship monies is not provided by the requested deadline. If students think organizations know this information because of their applications, this is not the case. Students sometimes change the name of the college they put on the application, or they switch colleges once they are enrolled and there is no way they can know the student id number.
With this letter, as secretary for Dollars for Scholars, I hope to inform students that when you receive a scholarship it is very important that you provide information to the organization that gave you the scholarship as well as a thank you to the individuals who provided the money for the scholarships.
For students that Polson Dollars for Scholars have not heard from, hopefully you or your parents will see this letter and send the information which again is: student name, student ID number, and the name and address of the college that you are attending.
