Unalienable rights founded on Bible

Secretary Clinton and Donald Trump had their first official public debate Monday. The election is just around the corner. I’m continuing to consider the issues and values. I remind myself from time to time that the greatest value in life is life itself.

The Declaration of Independence declares that “all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” We ought not to lose sight of the fact that the unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was according to the Founding Fathers, granted by the Creator of all human life, not by Parliament or Congress. I like what Thomas Jefferson wrote, however, I believe that life is a gift from God not because of the Declaration of Independence, but because I value the teaching of Scripture. Unalienable rights called for in the Declaration of Independence were founded on a higher declaration, the Holy Bible.

I’m listening to the candidates, reviewing what I’ve read concerning their position on my values. I’ll vote for the one who will within their Presidential prerogatives lend support to protect all life, the unborn, the terminally ill and those seasoned with age.

I value my faith, my family and my country. When I cast my ballot this November, it will be with confidence that I did my best to learn which candidate, national, state and in Lake County, will provide solid support for the issues which I value.
