Editor,

Twice this past week at a very early a.m. time, I answered my phone to hear the voice of a man with a very heavy accent. I believe he is from India. He identified himself as David White from the IRS. He stated that I was the subject of a lawsuit by the IRS and in order to avoid this I was to call him immediately. He gave me a phone number of (202) 864-1165 to which I did not respond.

Don’t respond to this scam.

The Lake County Sheriff’s dispatcher iterated that this is a scam. I knew that. Since we are on a do-not-call list, I am reporting this to the Montana State Attorney’s office in Helena. His voice, while calm, is very threatening as he closes with words to this effect “... if you don’t call me, I will feel sorry for you when you have to face the IRS.”

Please, do not be taken in by this and do report it to:

State of Montana, Attorney General
State Capitol Building
P.O. Box 200801
Helena, MT 59620 –0801

Be safe.
